  Changes are related to the fact that proposed extension of "set" command result in bacward incompatibility.  Propose command "assign" which could provide switches and options for a variety of alternatives.

  Following feedback from the TCT and other Tcl'ers, I'm taking over
  this TIP and retargetting it to move TclX's [lassign] into the core.
  Given that TclX is (relatively) well known, no other multi-assignment
  proposal can really compete.
